Eye Bolt Installation

According to the Health and Safety Executive, falls from height remain the most common cause of workplace fatality and on an annual basis account for thousands of injuries that result in employee absence.

Employers and building owners have a legal duty to provide a safe means of accessing areas of their properties that fall under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

A place is considered ‘at height’ if a person could be injured falling from it, even if it is at or below ground level. This means that any work activity where someone could suffer a fall should have a site-specific risk assessment.

Control measures need to be implemented detailing the safe method of access

In order to facilitate safe access, Class A1 permanent anchor devices – commonly known as Eyebolts – can be secured to vertical, horizontal and inclined surfaces of steel, brickwork or concrete to provide a single user attachment point.

Eyebolts are designed to offer a means of work positioning and fall protection for numerous scenarios.

Eyebolt applications include:

  • Loft access where joists are exposed

  • Access via fixed or portable ladders

  • Access to inspect and clean water tanks and water towers

  • Access onto open roof spaces for maintenance

  • Access for window, gutter and fascia cleaning

That is where Nemco can help.

At Nemco Utilities, our team is qualified to install, test and maintain Class A1 anchor devices in accordance with BS 7883:2005 ‘Code of practice for the design, selection, installation, use and maintenance of anchor devices conforming to BS EN 795’. An initial survey will allow the installation team to advise on the appropriate anchors and the most suitable locations. Following installation and examination, the anchors will be labelled and we provide a report including photographs and certificates.
